METAL MASSACRE
Metal Massacre es una colección de compilaciones de heavy metal. Realizada por:
Brian Slagel , un fanático de las pequeñas bandas de heavy metal de Los Angeles que no estaban incluidas por las mayores Productoras,decidió comenzar su propia compañía de producción. Después de sus estudios universitarios, trabajó en este proyecto ( Oz Records ) y en la creación de un fanzine ( Metal Blade ).
Preguntó a sus amigos de varias distribuidoras si estarían interesados en una recopilación de las mejores bandas Under del momento; Y estuvieron de acuerdo.
La compilación Metal Massacre fue lanzada originalmente en 1982 por Brian Slagel, futuro fundador de Metal Blade Records. El álbum contó con bandas de metal clandestinas y sin firmar y fue la primera aparición de Metallica, que ni siquiera era una banda real en ese momento. La compilación presentó algunas bandas que se convertirían en superestrellas y otras de las que nunca más se supo.

Metallica pudo lanzar una segunda versión de Hit the Lights. En la versión original, ni Dave Mustaine (guitarra) ni Ron McGovney (bajo) estaban en la banda. Hetfield tocaba el bajo y un amigo suyo, Lloyd Grant, tocaba la guitarra. La segunda versión de la canción contó con Mustaine interpretando los protagonistas.
